Registration for the Summer 2012 session of Inspired Doodles is now open!
Inspired Doodles is a month long online workshop, running from July 23 to August 17 and is designed for self-taught artists as well as those who are just interested in exploring their creativity through doodling, drawing and sketching.
You don't have to be an artist to take part in this workshop. It doesn't matter if you can draw a straight line or a perfect circle. You just need to be willing to explore your creativity.
Class runs from July 23 to August 17, 2012 and will be presented via written lessons and creative activities. All course materials will be available to you until September 30th, so you can proceed at your own pace.
In addition you will receive a PDF welcome sheet with 365 daily sketching prompts and lifetime access to the class forum where you can interact with me and your fellow students and share your doodles, drawings and sketches.

*****************************
In addition to my career as an artist/illustrator, I've spent the last few years teaching Flourish, which is an e-course dedicated to helping others get started with their creative businesses. Through Flourish, I've discovered a true passion for teaching others, for sharing the knowledge I've gathered. I've been so inspired by my Flourish students, that I've decided to share the other side of my creative business as well: the actual creative part of it!
Enter, Inspired Doodles.
The brief version of my personal artistic journey is that I never took any art classes, I never went to art school. I didn't even really start drawing until 2003 and in the time since then have gone from drawing simple doodles to having a full time career as an artist/illustrator.
Through the Inspired Doodles online workshop, I'll be sharing my experience as a self-taught artist and more specifically, I'll be sharing insight about how I improved my skills and developed my own personal style as an artist.
This limited enrollment workshop will run from July 23 to August 17, 2012, with the class materials and forums remaining open to you for an additional month until September 30th. The workshop will be self-paced, you can move as quickly or as slowly as you'd like.
Here's a brief list of topics I'll be covering:
*finding inspiration
*getting in the habit of sketching every day
*finding your voice as an artist
*overcoming the fear of sharing your work with others
*exploring line, shape, color and drawing from life
*incorporating pattern and texture into your work
*using your camera to capture moments of inspiration
*embracing the things you are best at
I'll also be providing a couple of short Photoshop tutorials along with tips for working digitally.
Each week will offer 3-4 written lessons followed by short creative assignments that you can share via a private workshop forum.
You'll also receive a daily sketch prompt during the length of the course as well as a PDF containing 365 sketching prompts to keep you inspired for a whole year. I'll be sketching right along with you through the workshop and will be sharing my work as we progress.
-Inspired Doodles will be running from July 23 to August 17, 2012.
-You'll have access to the lessons and forum until September 30, so you can work at your own pace
-I'll be keeping up with the forum every day until September 30, giving you feedback and answering your questions/comments
-The workshop will be broken down into sections with about 3-4 written lessons per week until August 17th.
-Each lesson will have a short drawing or creative assignment
-I'll begin each day by sending you a short email with a daily sketching prompt
-This workshop explores the methods I used to learn to draw and to further improve my drawing skills over the last 8 years
-In addition to a password protected website for the workshop, you'll also have lifetime access to a private forum where you can share your work and interact with past and current Inspired Doodles students and me
*Please note: This workshop does not teach a specific technique, the goal isn't to teach you to draw just like me, the goal is to teach you to draw like you :) It's an exploration, a journey.

You'll be exploring the world through doodling, drawing and sketching. I'll be sharing some techniques that I used while teaching myself to draw. There will be a wide range of topics including finding inspiration, drawing from life, exploring line and exploring color.
Will this class adhere to strict schedule?
New lessons will generally be available each Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday. New sketching prompts will be sent each day from July 23 to August 17, 2012. The class is self-paced, however, I recommend a basic time commitment of 15 minutes each day for sketching, doodling or drawing and at least 2-4 hours each week for reading the lessons and doing the creative assignments.
But as all workshop materials will be available to you until September 30th , you can move at your own pace.

This workshop is intended for those who are interested in drawing and exploring their creativity. It is open to anyone who is or ever has been interested in exploring their artistic abilities.
Who will be teaching the course?
The course will be taught by yours truly, Stephanie Fizer Coleman. After struggling in a "regular" job for years, I've built a successful career as an artist, both selling my work online and working on freelance illustration projects. I'm excited to share some of the methods I used to improve my artistic abilities.
How many other people will be in this workshop?
This workshop is limited to 30-35 students to ensure that everyone can receive individual feedback.
What if I'm going on vacation or won't be here for part of the workshop?
No worries, because you can progress through the workshop at your own pace as long as you are able to finish the material by September 30th. I will continue to answer your comments and questions through the entire open period.
Please note, this workshop is not refundable.
After you have received your username and password to gain access to the course, you are no longer available to cancel your registration and receive a refund. If you need to cancel your registration, please do so before July 16, 2012.
